We designed a “street-style” library with a focus on making it open to the city and its people. There are a number of sections along the “street-like” corridor in the center of the building that blend in with the dwellings in the city. This represented an attempt to connect the “street” in the library with the streets in the city of Moriyama.
The walls along the “street” are covered with panels made from cedar grown in this prefecture, making it feel like taking a walk in the woods where sunlight filters down from above, and you encounter books and people in the perfect place to learn new things.

図書館、飲食店、集会室

地域に開かれ、市民に開かれたストリート型の図書館をデザインした。中心となる室内化したストリートのまわりに、街と調和する家のような小さなボリュームを並べた。守山の街のストリートが、図書館の中のストリートへと連続し、図書館が街の生活の一部となることを試みた。
このストリートは県産である杉材で覆われ、森の中を散策するように本や人と出会い、木もれ日の中で学ぶことができる。
